University of Minnesota Physicians is seeking a Certified Nurse Practitioner or a Certified Physician Assistant to join our Oculoplastics practice in Minneapolis.
Job Description
The Department of Oculoplastic Surgery at M Health Fairview is seeking a highly motivated Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (with certification for patients through the life span, infant to adults). Working with the Oculoplastic Faculty, the candidate will be primarily caring for patients in the outpatient clinic setting with opportunity for first assist in the OR. The primary locations will be at the University of Minnesota Medical Center (UMMC) and Clinic and Surgery Center (CSC) in Minneapolis, Masonic Children’s Hospital, Lions Eye Clinic, and MHealth Maple Grove ASC and Clinic.
Responsibilities will include providing care and education to patients with various oculoplastic conditions in coordination with the attending physicians and performing various procedures in the office setting. Procedures include but are not limited to: eyelid biopsies, chalazion excisions, suture and staple removal, suturing of wounds. Experience in ophthalmic or plastic surgery is preferred; however new graduates are welcome to apply.
This is a full-time day shift position. There will be call responsibilities added in the future. M Health Fairview offers a comprehensive benefits package to include health, dental, vision and malpractice insurance, retirement plan and CME allowance.
Essential Functions
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the care of all age groups; neonates, infants, toddlers, school aged, adolescents, and adults.
  • Perform history and physicals and consults in both the inpatient and outpatient setting.
  • Make hospital rounds and write daily progress notes on patients as medically indicated.
  • Assist the surgeons in the operating room with surgical procedures as requested.
  • Perform office-based procedures under the supervision of an attending physician.
  • Educate patients, families and other stakeholders on oculoplastic conditions and plan of care. Provide ongoing general education to all clinic staff and personnel who work with our patient population
  • Participate in divisional, departmental, and hospital programs for Quality Assessment and Improvement, identifying opportunities to improve services, making recommendations and implementing actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of M Health Fairview.

We’re Looking For a PA or NP Who Is:
  • A graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or formal Adult Nurse Practitioner training program.
  • Eligible or is certified through NCCPA, ANCC or AANP.
  • Licensed or eligible to acquire a license and prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Medical Practice (PAs) or MN APRN license or eligible to acquire a license and prescriptive authority through MN Board of Nursing (NP’s).
  • Able to meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges.

The full-time salary range is $123,256 – $148,359 commensurate with practice experience and may also include incentive compensation or additional specialty-specific compensation components. Salary prorated based on FTE.
