Full Job Description
University of Minnesota Physicians seeks a Certified Physician Assistant or Certified Nurse Practitioner to join the University of Minnesota Neurosurgery team. In this role, you will provide neurosurgery care for pediatric inpatients and outpatients, and adult outpatients at the University of Minnesota Medical Center-West Bank location. You will be working closely with academic neurosurgeons and experienced Advanced Practice Providers, caring for pediatric and adult patients with a diverse range of neurosurgical disorders.
The PA or NP is an experienced member of the health care team who uses advanced practice skill with the supervision/collaboration of licensed physicians to provide comprehensive health care services to patients. The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner engages in independent decision making about health care needs and provides health care services to pediatric and adult individuals throughout their life span. Provides physical and psychological health assessments, patient education and counseling, orders and interprets diagnostic procedures, and manages acute and chronic disease conditions ensuring continuity of care for individuals in the communities served.
Position Qualifications
A qualified candidate will be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and formal Nurse Practitioner training program or a graduate of an accredited Physician’s Assistant program. Have a current MN RN license and be approved or eligible by the Minnesota Board of Nursing for prescription writing privileges or a current PA license with prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Medical Practice. Be certified through ANCC/AANP or eligible for ANCC/AANP national exam or through the NCCPA and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges.
Preferred Qualifications
A minimum of 1 year experience as a PA or NP is preferred. New graduates with prior surgical or neurosurgical experience as an RN or other allied health professional will be considered.
