Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Physician Assistant (PA) for ENT works under the supervision of an ENT Surgeon, providing a range of medical services in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to the ear, nose, throat, head and neck. The PA is responsible for care of patients including assessment of health status, diagnosis, development of plan of care and treatment, implementation of treatment plan, and evaluation of patient status. The PA will be responsible for maintaining accurate and current patient records, scheduling and administering follow-up appointments to patients as required and work as a team with other care providers to ensure delivery of premium care to each and every patient. Patient Evaluation

  • Perform detailed patient histories, physical examination, and assessments related to ENT conditions.

Diagnostic Testing

  • Order, interpret, conduct diagnostic tests such as audiogram, CT scans, MRIs to identify ENT issues.

Treatment Planning

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medication prescriptions, therapeutic interventions, and surgical referrals as necessary.

Minor procedures

  • Perform minor procedures such as ear irrigation, nasal endoscopy, abscess drainage, and biopsy collection under physician supervision.

Pre-and -Post Operative Care

  • Assist with pre-operative evaluations, patient education, and post-operative follow-up care including wound management and suture removal.

Patient Education

  • Educate patients and their families on ENT conditions, preventive care, treatment options, and post-treatment care.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with ENT Surgeon, audiologists and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive care.

Documentation

  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records including charting in the electronic health record.
  • Update patient records and check records for accuracy at each patient appointment ensuring appropriate documentation to meet coding/billing and regulatory requirements.

Other

  • Support the work of the clinic and organization by participation in improvement activities including but not limited to implementation and ongoing success of operational improvements, compliance efforts, IS initiatives and quality improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Current Physician Assistant License from the MN State Board of Medical Practice, in good standing
  • Certified as a Physician Assistant by NCCPA
  • BLS certification
  • Prior experience with primary care, urgent care or ENT experience, preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, preferred

Schedule:

  • 40hrs-80hrs/2wks
  • FTE and hours are flexible, per department need
  • No weekend or holiday requirements
