University of Minnesota Physicians is seeking a Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our EmPath (Emergency Psychiatric Assessment, Treatment, and Healing) practice at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN and Emergency Consult Team at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis.
In This Role, You Will:
- Join a team of multidisciplinary mental health specialists, including psychiatrists, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, licensed therapists, and psychiatric nurses in caring for acute mental health issues that come to the EmPath unit or Emergency Department.
- Determine the best level of care for patients, provide acute treatment for occurring crisis and assist with discharge planning when needed.
- Work closely with ED providers in supporting the mental health patients in the ED.
- Provide consultative support to the medical patients on-site and other facilities via telemedicine.
- Completes comprehensive substance use disorder assessment.
- Provides basic alcohol and opioid withdrawal treatment.
Schedule:
- Casual
- Day, evening and weekend shifts (6,8, or 12-hour shifts)
- No Call
We’re Looking for a NP or PA Who Is:
- A graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or formal Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner training program.
- Eligible or is certified through NCCPA, ANCC or AANP.
- Licensed or eligible to acquire a license and prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Medical Practice (PAs) or MN APRN license or eligible to acquire a license and prescriptive authority through MN Board of Nursing (NP’s).
- Able to meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges.
- Has at least 2 years of psychiatry practice experience.
Compensation:
Casual rate of pay is $85/hr plus shift differential payments.
