Full Job Description
- Provides nighttime inpatient critical care within the Medical/Surgical/Neuro Intensive Care Unit, in collaboration but not necessarily the presence of a board certified intensivist (eg: Patient history, physical examination, ordering and interpreting tests, making diagnoses and instituting treatment plans).
- Looking for candidates with strong medical or surgical background who possess critical thinking skills and can function in a team setting.
- Highly autonomous position with opportunity for various procedures related to the ICU (intubation, CVC, arterial lines placement, thoracentesis and paracentesis).
- Experience with procedures are preferred.
- Specific procedures within the Department of Medicine are individually credentialed as indicated by training and experience.
- No call. 12 hour shifts.
- At least 1 year of inpatient experience is required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree or Completion of an AMA-approved Physician Assistant program minimum.- OR- Master’s degree in Nursing
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Michigan licensure and continued certification by the National Commission of Certification Physician Assistant (NCCPA) -OR -Must be a Masters prepared Registered Nurse with current certification as a Certified Nurse Practitioner. Current Michigan state license as Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse
Current ACLS/BLS as required. Current ATLS/PALS provider status as required.
1+ years’ APP experience in critical care/ICU preferred
