Position Summary

The Physician Assistant specializing in spine care plays a key role in delivering high-quality patient care. This includes conducting thorough evaluations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, assisting in the operating room (OR) as a first assist, and developing individualized treatment plans. The role also involves ensuring accurate and timely documentation to support effective treatment for spine-related conditions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive evaluations and assessments of patients with spine and orthopedic conditions.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including on-site X-rays.
  • Collaborate with supervising physicians to ensure continuity of care, and refer patients as needed to support a comprehensive and coordinated care plan.
  • Educate patients on their diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive care, as directed by supervising providers.
  • Work closely with orthopedic surgeons and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
  • Prescribe medications and develop treatment plans in accordance with patient needs and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed documentation of patient encounters.
  • Provide first-assist support in the operating room, performing tasks as directed by the surgeon to ensure efficient and effective surgical procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in the state of Michigan.
  • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Previous experience in orthopedics preferred particularly in the spine specialty.
  • Strong clinical skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Current DEA license.
