Full Job Description

Job Summary: Endocrinology Physician Assistant provides comprehensive care to patients with endocrine disorders, including diabetes, thyroid diseases, adrenal disorders, and metabolic conditions. Working under the supervision of an endocrinologist, the PA is responsible for performing clinical assessments, developing treatment plans, and coordinating care to improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care: Conduct thorough patient evaluations, including history-taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic assessments.
  • Diagnosis and Treatment: Assist in diagnosing endocrine disorders, interpreting lab results, and formulating treatment plans. Prescribe medications and therapies as appropriate.
  • Patient Management: Monitor and manage ongoing patient care, including chronic disease management, lifestyle modifications, and medication adjustments.
  • Education: Educate patients and their families about endocrine conditions, treatment options, and self-management strategies. Provide counseling on diet, exercise, and other lifestyle factors.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with endocrinologist, MA, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and follow-up documentation.
  • Procedure Assistance: Assist with or perform minor procedures related to endocrinology
  • Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and clinical research activities as needed.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all relevant medical standards, policies, and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program OR A degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Certification: Board certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). or Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) by the [appropriate certifying body, e.g., ANCC or AANP] Certification or eligibility for certification in endocrinology is preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in endocrinology or a related field is preferred, but not required. New graduates with a strong interest in endocrinology are also encouraged to apply.
  • Skills: Strong clinical skills, including the ability to interpret diagnostic tests and develop effective treatment plans. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Knowledge: Solid understanding of endocrine physiology, pathology, and pharmacology. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems is preferred.
  • Licensure: Current PA or NP license in the state of Michigan

Working Conditions:

  • Environment: Clinical settings private practices mainly outpatient clinics, may cover inpatient at Ascension Macomb Hospital 12 miles and Hoover
  • Hours: Full-time or part-time positions may be available. Some flexibility in scheduling,

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to perform physical examinations and assist with patient mobility.
