Position Summary
The Physician Assistant (UrgentOrtho) conducts thorough evaluations, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, and develops individualized treatment plans for patients. This role conducts comprehensive evaluations and assessments of orthopaedic patients and collaborates with supervising physicians to ensure continuity of care, referring patients as needed to support a comprehensive and coordinated care plan. The Physician Assistant also ensures accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters, supporting effective treatment for fractures, dislocations, and other conditions.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations and assessments of orthopaedic patients
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including on-site X-rays
- Perform joint injections, aspirations as needed
- Collaborates with supervising physicians to ensure continuity of care for fractures, dislocations, and other orthopaedic conditions, referring patients as needed to support a comprehensive and coordinated care plan.
- Assists in educating patients on their diagnoses, treatment options, and preventive care, as directed by supervising providers.
- Collaborate closely with orthopaedic surgeons and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in the state of Michigan.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Previous experience in orthopaedics or urgent care preferred
- Strong clinical skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be available to work evening shifts, Monday through Friday, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
