OverviewOur practiceis seeking a compassionate, skilled, and collaborative Psychiatric Physician Assistant (PA) to join our medical team. This role will involve evaluating, diagnosing, and managing patients with psychiatric disorders. The Psychiatric PA will work in close collaboration with our team to deliver exceptional care, incorporating mental health assessments into broader treatment plans to enhance patient outcomes. The role will focus on delivering compassionate care, prescribing medications, and managing patients’ psychiatric needs within a comprehensive care model.
Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, including initial and follow-up assessments of patients’ mental health and overall well-being
- Diagnose and manage a variety of psychiatric disorders, including mood disorders, anxiety, depression, psychotic disorders, and other behavioral health conditions
- Develop comprehensive treatment plans for psychiatric conditions, prescribing medications as appropriate, and managing pharmacological treatments
- Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and strategies for managing psychiatric symptoms
- Monitor patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary, and maintaining clear documentation of all patient interactions
- Respond to psychiatric emergencies and provide timely intervention as needed
- Ensure adherence to medical ethics, confidentiality, and patient privacy standards
- Stay current with advancements in psychiatric practices, neuroscience, and healthcare regulations
- Promote teamwork and collaboration among medical staff to achieve optimal patient care

Experience
- Graduation from an ARC-PA-accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Active, unrestricted Physician Assistant license issued by the State of Michigan.
- DEA registration (or ability to obtain) for prescribing controlled substances.
- Ability to work within a physician-supervised practice agreement as required by Michigan law.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Clinical experience in psychiatry is a must.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of two (2) years clinical experience in psychiatric or behavioral health settings.
- Completion of a postgraduate psychiatry fellowship or residency program.
- Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Psychiatry issued by the NCCPA.
- Experience working in inpatient psychiatric settings or with severe and persistent mental illness populations.
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and telepsychiatry platforms.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $60.00 per hour
Expected hours: 16 – 24 per week
