The Nurse Practitioner position is responsible for the evaluation of clients, including completing routine history and physical examinations, and assessing clients that have opioid substance use disorders on site and also those incarcerated in our affiliate correctional facilities via telehealth. Other duties also include coordination of care with providers of psychosocial services, including the documentation of health conditions associated with substance abuse and co-occurring services for adult patients.
Hours of operation are 5:45 AM until 2:00 PM, Monday – Friday.
Additionally, this position has the following responsibilities:
- Evaluating clients to determine appropriate medication to treat opioid addiction. Must obtain familiarity with Methadone, Buprenorphine, Naloxone, and have the ability to create an individualized treatment plan in conjunction with therapist.
- Reports to the Program Director under the supervision of the Medical Director to implement the organization’s prescribing and dosing policies.
- Work within Michigan’s Administrative Rules and support the Medical Director and staff physicians in determining appropriate take-home doses for clients.
- Dispense medication in accordance with Michigan State and Federal regulations and in accordance with prescribing physician orders.
- Assist the medical organization by updating medical records including client charts, progress notes and client treatment plans.
- Interact with the physicians and counseling staff to coordinate patient treatment.
- Interact with nursing staff of other clinics to facilitate the transfer of clients.
- Occasionally providing medication to clients.
- Understand the clinical benefits and limitations of urine screens, toxicology, and other testing procedures.
- Knowledge of CPR and Basic Life Support.
- Monitor level of medication and work with Program Director to reorder required inventory.
- Develop programs to improve SUD treatment delivery.
- Attend training as required to understand the current treatment standards within the SUD environment.
- Participate in outreach activities, and at community events.
- Represent the organization as required.
- Other related duties as requested.
