Job Title: Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant – Critical Care

Location: Madison Heights, MI

Department: Critical Care

Inpatient/Outpatient: 100% inpatient

Position Overview:

Henry Ford Madison Heights is seeking a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) specializing in critical care to join our dynamic team. This position is primarily weekend and nights.

Capable of evaluating and managing critical care patients in the absence of the intensivist. Intubation experience w/ video assistance, arterial lines after in-house certification, FCCS course completion within 1 year of hire. Back up the House Officer by responding to non-ICU Rapid Response and Code Blue. Provide relief shifts for House Officer nights. High level of autonomy practicing to the full extent of education and training in advanced practice. APPs are well respected by all members of the critical care team.

Must have Acute Care certification.

Role is 2/3 Critical Care, 1/3 Night House Officer.

Open to new graduates. However, must have a minimum of 3 years critical care RN experience.

Weekend requirement – Yes, this is a primarily weekend and nights position.

In collaboration with a physician, provides for the expansion of individualized primary healthcare services by diagnosing and treating certain acute or chronic health conditions. Responsibilities: Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination. Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies. Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care.| Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.| Counsels and educates patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.| Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy.

Qualifications:

  • NP – Completion of a Nurse Practitioner training program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)
  • NP – Certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan

Licensure and Certification

  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Michigan, or in process of applying (must have proof of application)
  • National certification as an NP
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • DEA/CSL, required through credentialing.
  • Acute Care certification.
  • If new graduate, min. of 3 years critical care RN experience.

Experience

  • EPIC Experience, preferred.
