Full Job Description
- Anticipated initial census of 6-8 patients
- 2-4 ICU status
- 4-6 step down status
CVICU service to sign off when patients are deemed floor status.
Expected census to expand as surgical volume grows.
- Daytime coverage – CVICU APPs will work 12-hour shifts, 630a-630p with evening sign out at 630p
- Nighttime coverage – SICU APPs will cross cover at night, 630p-630a
- Independently evaluates patients in the hospital
- Works closely with CVICU physicians, Surgeons, and Interventional Cardiology
- Ordering/interpreting testing and lab results, modifying plan of care to address results
- Provide clinical expertise and direction to support patient management
- Maintain accurate documentation regarding patient status, evaluations, and treatments to physicians, streamline the patient transfer process between levels of care, including communicating specific patient needs to internal and external team members and other healthcare providers
- Perform other related duties as required to assure patient safety and satisfaction
- Participate in the development and presentation of educational experiences for patients, families, and health care professionals

GENERAL SUMMARY: The NP/PA-Critical Care/ICU will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary critical care unit. The NP/PA-Critical Care/ICU will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first line provider to critically ill patients and their families. Provides inpatient medical care for critically ill patients requiring ICU level of care. Works in collaboration with intensivist physicians, attending physicians, consultants, house officers, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently. Specific procedures as per credentialing as indicated by training and experience. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Master¿s degree in nursing OR Bachelor¿s degree or Completion of an AMA-approved Physician Assistant program minimum. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Current certification as a Certified Nurse Practitioner. Current state license as a Registered Nurse. Current ACLS/BLS as required. Current ATLS/PALS provider status as required. OR Michigan licensure and continued certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA). Current ACLS/BLS as required. Current ATLS/PALS provider status as required.
