Our programs are led by a group of independent bariatric surgeons who have a passion for providing excellent patient care. Weight loss is our specialty. We provide coaching for dietary, behavioral, and exercise habits, monitored by licensed bariatric physicians. Because we understand that genetic, social, cultural, and emotional factors lead to obesity, our patients are properly supported and equipped throughout their weight loss journey.
Position Summary
The Physician Assistant will work in both the inpatient and outpatient/office settings, serving alongside Leaders of the Midwest in bariatric surgery and medical weight loss. We perform surgeries at Metro Health Hospital, Trinity Hospital- Grand Rapids and Grand Haven, Corewell Health- Grand Rapids, Holland Hospital, and Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital.
Responsibilities include:
- Surgical first assist, inpatient management and post-operative care.
- Complete thorough H&P’s for patients starting the Surgical or Medical Weight Loss Programs.
- Perform monthly visits for patients who are going through the medical or surgical program to assess progress and provide education and support.
- Be a strong participant in the office’s endeavor to: Improve the care of our patients by continuously encouraging multiple modalities of treatment. View and treat obesity as a life-long disease that requires life-long care and a multi-disciplinary approach.
- Monitor and complete EMR Messages and Lab Results.
Basic Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant educational program
- Licenses: Michigan Physician Assistant
- Current NCCPA certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Knowledgeable of the laws of the State of Michigan in regards to clinical activities and the Code of Ethics of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-5 years of experience as a practicing PA
- Surgical first assist experience (but not required)
- Membership in related professional specialty organizations
Schedule
Days/Hours: Monday – Friday; generally 8:00am – 5:00pm
On-Call frequency: 1 in 4 nights & 1 in 4 weekends
