Pediatric Cardiac Surgery (Full Scope, ICU or OR/Surgical)

The Tenet Physician Recruitment is looking for a PA or Acute Care NP in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Department in Children’s Hospital of Michigan, Detroit.

Under the direction and supervision of the Pediatric Cardiac Surgeons and the pediatric Cardiac Intensivists the Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner will work in the pediatric cardiac intensive care unit and the pediatric cardiac operating room to perform all required clinical duties, including patient evaluation and management in the preoperative, postoperative, and outpatient settings as well as performing ICU bedside procedures (e.g. arterial line and central line insertion, chest tube insertion), first and second assisting in all Neonatal, pediatric and adult congenital cardiac surgical procedures (e.g. Norwood operation, arterial switch operation, Tetralogy of fallot repair). In addition to heart transplant, ECMO and ventricular assist devices

Responsibilities include:

· Working collaboratively with Pediatric Cardiac Surgeons, Pediatric Cardiac Intensivists and Pediatric Cardiologists in managing Pediatric cardiac surgery patients in the pre-operative, peri-operative, post-operative, and outpatient environments

· Performing morning rounds in the cardiac ICU with the cardiac surgeons and intensive care team formulating plan for the care of the patients

· Working with Critical care team to conduct care of patients in the cardiac ICU and performing procedurer under supervision of the surgeons, and the intensivist e.g. intubation and extubation, insertion of chest drains, removal of pacing wires and chest tubes removal. mulating a treatment plan for Cardiac problems within scope of practice. Implementing

· First and second assisting in the operation room for various cardiac surgical procedures

· Promoting family and patient engagement by explaining treatment plan, identifying and addressing any expected obstacles.

· Participating in the quality and patient satisfaction review process.

· Using current health care research findings and evidence based medicine to expand clinical knowledge, enhancing role performance and increasing knowledge of professional issues

· Participating in group home call duties, including night and weekend coverage.

Requirements include:

· Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant School or graduate of an accredited school of nursing as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.

· 2+ years of related Cardiac Surgery clinical experience is preferred·

· Current License as a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $76,074.11 – $163,774.00 per year
