Full Job Description
- Ful time position with rotating night/day shifts. Every 3rd weekend and holiday requirements included.
- Responsible for providing advanced patient assessment, development of differential diagnoses, advanced clinical decision making, initiation/modification of treatment plans, collaboration with consulting services to implement recommendations, and performance of invasive procedures in collaboration with attending Cardiac surgeons for primary patients in the CVS GPU.
- Additional responsibilities include performing history/physical and consultations for other inpatient services on non-primary patients being worked up for cardiac surgery.
- The APP interested in this position should be comfortable with their autonomy to practice independently as clinical activities are authorized and performed under the supervision but not necessarily in the presence of the physician member or medical staff.
- Prescriptive authority is a delegated privilege under the collaborating physician.
- Clinical skills will encompass a broad range of cognitive and technical clinical skills. Specific procedures within the specialty are individually credentialed, based on the individual’s background training and experience.
- The NP or PA ICU/Critical Care will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary critical care unit.
- The NP or PA ICU/Critical Care will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first line provider to critically ill patients and their families.
- Provides inpatient medical care for critically ill patients requiring ICU level of care.
- Works in collaboration with intensivist physicians, attending physicians, consultants, house officers, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently.
- Specific procedures as per credentialing as indicated by training and experience.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Master’s degree in nursing or Bachelor’s degree or Completion of an AMA-approved Physician Assistant program.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Current certification as a Certified Nurse Practitioner or requires Michigan state licensure and continued certification by the National. Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Current state license as a Registered Nurse.
Current ACLS/BLS as required.
Current ATLS/PALS provider status as required.
DEA required
1 year of ICU experience required
