Job Details

- Setting: Inpatient, Level 3 Neonatal Unit / NICU
- Shifts: 12-hour rotating shifts (08:00–20:00, 20:00–08:00), rotation includes nights and weekends as required
- Duration: 13 weeks (travel assignment)
- Hours per Week: 36

- EMR: Epic (experience with Epic EMR preferred)
- Call Schedule: No call required
Job Requirements (Neonatal PA Qualifications)
- Minimum 1 year of neonatal experience as a Physician Assistant (no new graduates) with hands-on NICU experience
- Board certification by a national organization for Physician Assistants
- Active Michigan State PA license (or compact/reciprocal licensure where applicable)
- Current BLS and NRP certifications (required)
- Self-Query NPDB report (within 30 days of submission)
- Comfortable working autonomously on night shifts and collaborating with on-site neonatologists during day shifts
Responsibilities (Neonatal Physician Assistant Duties)
- Provide autonomous, high-quality care to neonates in a Level 3 inpatient NICU setting
- Perform neonatal procedures including endotracheal intubation, umbilical line placement, ventilatory support, and NRP interventions
- Attend specified newborn deliveries and provide immediate stabilization and resuscitation as needed
- Manage an average daily census of approximately 12 patients in the neonatal unit
- Collaborate closely with neonatologists and multidisciplinary NICU staff; work autonomously from 16:00 to 08:00 with neonatologist on call
- Document all patient care thoroughly in the Epic EMR system and follow hospital clinical protocols and quality standards
