Full Job Description

Title: Occupational Care Services Provider

Experience/Education & Requirements:

  • Master’s degree or higher in Nursing (for Nurse Practitioners) or Physician Assistant Studies (for PAs).
  • Board certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioner (FNP, ANP, or other relevant certifications).
  • Current state licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
  • CPR/First Aid certification required.
  • OSHA certification or training is a plus.
  • At least 2-3 years of clinical experience, with a preference for occupational health, urgent care, or primary care experience.
  • Experience with workers’ compensation, injury management, and pre-employment health assessments preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to diagnose and treat a wide range of health conditions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to educate and advise employees on health and safety matters.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, workplace safety protocols, and health screening procedures.
  • Proficiency in medical software and record-keeping systems.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
  • Ability to handle stressful or emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative approach to healthcare delivery.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions.

Wage Range: Viewable to CEO and Director of Operations can include incentive and bonus based on Key Performance Indicators (KPI).

Job Classification: Can be 1099, vendor or W2.

*Key Responsibilities:

Medical Evaluation and Diagnosis

  • Perform comprehensive physical exams and assessments for employees, including pre-employment physicals, return-to-work evaluations, and fitness-for-duty exams.
  • Diagnose and treat work-related injuries and illnesses, such as musculoskeletal injuries, respiratory conditions, and minor illnesses (e.g., colds or flu).
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., X-rays, lab work) as needed to evaluate employee health conditions and determine appropriate treatment.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for both acute and chronic conditions, ensuring that they meet both medical and occupational health standards.

Injury and Illness Management

  • Provide first aid and emergency care in response to workplace injuries, including performing minor wound care, splinting, or administering injections when required.
  • Assist in the management of workers’ compensation claims, including documenting injuries and coordinating care between employees, healthcare providers, and the company.
  • Coordinate rehabilitation plans for injured employees, helping them return to work safely with light-duty assignments if necessary.
  • Conduct post-injury assessments and assist in determining when employees are ready to return to full-duty work.

Health Screenings and Preventive Care

  • Administer and interpret health screenings, such as vision tests, hearing tests, respiratory health assessments, blood pressure checks, and cholesterol screening.
  • Provide immunizations, such as flu shots or workplace-required vaccinations, in accordance with health regulations and guidelines.
  • Participate in the development and execution of wellness programs, offering advice on topics such as smoking cessation, stress management, exercise, and nutrition.

OSHA Compliance and Regulatory Oversight

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other industry-specific health requirements, including workplace health surveillance and drug and alcohol testing.
  • Advise management on OSHA health and safety requirements, ensuring employees meet required medical qualifications and certifications.
  • Assist in preparing OSHA-required documentation, including maintaining accurate medical records for employees and assisting with compliance audits.

Health and Safety Education

  • Educate employees about injury prevention, ergonomics, safe work practices, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
  • Lead health education seminars and workshops for employees on various health topics, such as stress management, workplace safety, and chronic disease prevention.
  • Provide employees with information on maintaining good mental health and a healthy work-life balance.

Coordination of Medical Care and Referrals

  • Coordinate referrals to specialists or additional healthcare providers for employees with complex medical needs or who require further treatment.
  • Work with healthcare teams to manage ongoing care, including scheduling follow-up appointments and providing ongoing medical treatment as needed.
  • Assist in the management of sick leave, FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act), and other employee leave-related matters, ensuring appropriate documentation is completed.

Administrative and Documentation Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records for each employee, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and company privacy policies.
  • Document and report on medical findings and treatment plans in a timely manner, ensuring all medical records are updated and accessible.
  • Complete and submit workers’ compensation forms, incident reports, and other necessary documentation to ensure the proper handling of work-related injuries.

Emergency Response and Crisis Management

  • Act as a first responder in medical emergencies, providing immediate care or stabilization until further medical assistance is available.
  • Assist with emergency drills and workplace safety protocols, ensuring preparedness in case of medical emergencies or disasters.
  • Participate in the development of emergency response plans, including medical evacuations, and assist with any critical incidents that may arise in the workplace.

Position Summary:

The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) will be responsible for delivering high-quality medical care and treatment to employees in an occupational health setting. This includes conducting physical exams, diagnosing and treating work-related injuries and illnesses, providing pre-employment health screenings, administering wellness programs, and ensuring compliance with workplace safety regulations. The PA or NP will work closely with other healthcare providers, employers, and employees to promote health and well-being in the workplace while addressing work-related health concerns.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $55.00 – $65.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 24 per week
