Full Job Description
Seeking a locum Physician Assistant (PA) to support cardiothoracic surgery within an acute care inpatient operating room environment in Clinton Township, Michigan. This is an adult patient population at a Level II trauma facility. The primary responsibility is first-assisting in surgery with on-site physician supervision in the OR.
Compensation
- Pay: $94/hour
Practice Details
- Setting: Inpatient OR (acute care)
- Trauma Level: Level 2
- Patient Population: Adults
- Average Volume: 4–8 patients per day
- EMR: Epic
- Supervision: Physician present in the OR
Schedule & Call
- Scheduled Hours: 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Call: Rotational/varies
- Call Ratio: 1:4
- Callback Hours: 8–12 hour shift includes 2 hours gratis; 24 hour shift includes 4 hours gratis
Required Qualifications
- Current NCCPA board certification (required)
- Active Michigan PA license prior to assignment (no pending licenses accepted)
- BLS and ACLS through the American Heart Association (required)
- Minimum 1 year of cardiothoracic OR experience (no new graduates)
- Robotic experience preferred (not required)
Required Clinical Skills & Procedures
- Central venous and dialysis catheter placement
- Arterial line and intra-aortic balloon pump placement
- Retrieval of vascular tissue for bypass conduit; endoscopic retrieval
- Chest tube insertions
- Thoracentesis
