Duties

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews to determine urgent care needs.
  • Manage acute pain and airway emergencies using advanced airway management techniques and ventilator support when necessary.
  • Perform clinical procedures such as suturing, injection administration (including botulinum toxin treatments), phlebotomy, and wound care following aseptic techniques.
  • Utilize EMR systems like Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of patient encounters, medical records, CPT coding, and ICD-10/ICD-9 coding for billing purposes.
  • Triage patients efficiently in the emergency room or outpatient settings to prioritize care based on severity of illness or injury.
  • Collaborate with hospital teams on inpatient care plans including ICU management, Level I and Level II trauma center protocols, and post-acute discharge planning.
  • Participate in clinical research or clinical trials related to urgent care innovations such as infectious disease care or pain management strategies.
  • Support telehealth initiatives by providing remote consultations and follow-up assessments when applicable.

Qualifications

  • Valid Physician Assistant license with current certification (such as NCCPA) and eligibility to practice in the state.
  • Proven experience in emergency medicine, urgent care settings, or hospital-based acute care environments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with EMR system, ; familiarity with medical coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and data management.
  • Strong skills in physical examinations, diagnostic evaluation, medication administration, and procedural techniques such as suturing and injection therapy.
  • Critical care experience including ventilator management, ICU procedures, airway management, and ventilator troubleshooting preferred.
  • Knowledge of hospital protocols for trauma (Level I/II Trauma Center experience), infectious disease protocols, hospice & palliative medicine practices, and occupational health standards.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism while maintaining excellent patient care standards.
  • Excellent communication skills for patient education on health coaching topics like nutrition or addiction counseling; adept at documentation adhering to HIPAA regulations. Pay: $55.00 – $75.00 per hour
