Summary
We seek to add an experienced Per Diem Orthopedic Physician Assistant (PA) for Weekdays, Nights or Weekends.
This Per Diem Opportunity is steady!!
PA can choose a from 2 to 6 shifts/month!!
The new PA will be part of a growing team that is hospital-based. The position will include some first assisting (orthopedic cases), ER, floor management, inpatient admits and discharges, rounds, ED consults and procedures. The new PA will work directly with a team of Orthopedic Surgeons! Cases include shoulders, knees, total joints, and fractures.
Responsibilities:
- Surgical first assist
- Patient evaluations and ED consults
- Coordinate with PT and OT
- Cortisone Injections and aspirations
- Order and evaluate tests
- Pre and post-operative H&P’s and follow-up
- Reductions, aspirations, casting and splinting
- Hospital rounding
- Write scripts
- Evaluate X-ray, CT Scan and MRI
Non-Clinical Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates professional collaborative and consultative relationships with other providers.
- Follows all designated prescriptive practices and monitoring requirements with the designated supervising physician and administrative report.
- Participates in departmental and organizational committees and programs as appropriate and attends all required meetings, in-services, and professional trainings.
- Maintains superior interpersonal and communication skills as a member of the healthcare team
- Remains actively involved in continuing education with a commitment to self and departmental growth.
- Adheres to all established safety policies, procedures, and precautions; identifies potential or actual unsafe situations in the environment and takes measures to rectify the situation.
- Demonstrates understanding of procedures, policies, and documentation required to ensure compliance with hospital standards of care.
- Additional duties and responsibilities as required by the department/division.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an approved PA program
- Possess/Maintain National Certification through NCCPA for PAs
- Current/valid Massachusetts NP or PA license
- Current DEA registration (for the state of Massachusetts) and a Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration (MCSR).
- This position allows for a high degree of autonomy and thus requires prior orthopedic experience

- May be asked to fulfill other credentialing requirements per Medical Staff Services
