Full Job Description

Sturdy Health is seeking an Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our join our well-established and successful Urgent Care in Plainville, MA.

Sturdy Memorial Urgent Care offers access to urgent medical care on a walk-in and same-day basis, both adult and pediatric care – all in one convenient location. Our walk-in clinic offers on-site laboratory and x-ray services.

About the job:

  • Schedule includes 32 patient-facing hours per week which may include weekends and holidays
  • Shift: Day Shift 8:00am – 8:00pm / 8:00am – 4:00pm
  • Perform a wide variety of patient care and related duties including, but not limited to, taking patient histories, conduct physical exams, review past medical records, complete electronic health records, order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies; explain necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient and family; perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; review results of studies and procedures and interpret results toward quality patient care
  • Expected patient volume of 25-35 patients a day per provider in an 8-hour shift or 12-hour shift
  • Contribute to the clinic’s effectiveness by identifying patient care issues to be addressed; recommend options and courses of action; implement directives
  • Assess patient health by interviewing patients; perform physical examinations; obtain, update, and study medical histories
  • Determine abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests; interpret test results
  • Perform therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations; suturing; manage wounds and infections
  • Instruct and counsel patients by describing therapeutic regimens; giving normal growth and development information; discussing family planning; providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living; promoting wellness and health maintenance

Requirements:

  • Comfort with a fast-paced, patient centered practice that provides quality care
  • Graduate of an accredited and/or approved nurse practitioner or physician assistant program
  • Current license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, or ability to obtain
  • Current certification in CPR required
  • Requires a minimum of 1 to 2 years’ experience in Urgent Care
