Job Description

Physician/Assistant Director, Sports Medicine

The Physician/Assistant Director, Sports Medicine functions as an active member of the Boston College Sports Medicine and University Health Services Primary Care Center team. The Sports Medicine responsibilities include the care, treatment and medical management of approximately 800 intercollegiate athletes including pre-participation physicals, post-practice clinics, and providing medical coverage at specified athletic events. The University Health Services Primary Care Center has approximately 200 outpatient visits per day including undergraduate and graduate students. In addition to the Outpatient Unit, there is a 10 bed infirmary unit which provides overnight nurse monitoring for those students requiring observation.

The physician is responsible for providing episodic, continuing care and health education for the student population including student athletes. In addition to the office practice, responsibilities include call, working closely with the athletic trainers in caring for intercollegiate athletes, weekend and evening coverage for athletic events and clinics, and travel with the athletes to other athletic venues.

In order to create a more inclusive community within the Division of Student Affairs, each staff member is expected to support division and university-wide initiatives, staff events, and serve on committees as needed.

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $175,400 to $219,250; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

  • Board Certification in one of the following disciplines: Family Medicine; Internal Medicine; Pediatrics; Emergency Medicine; AND Board Certified in Sports Medicine.
  • Requires licensure by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine.
  • Federal DEA Licensure.
  • Proficient computer skills and experience working with electronic medical records is required.
  • Ability to provide weekend and evening coverage for athletic events and clinics, and travel with the athletes to other athletic venues.
  • Demonstrated experience working and communicating effectively with diverse populations and creating inclusive and belonging work environments.
  • Experience in coordinating health services and liaising with other health care professionals.
  • Strong attention to detail.
