Job Title: Advanced Practice Provider – Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
Reports To: Medical Director
Pay Status: Salary Exempt
Position Summary:
Working under the direct supervision of the Medical Director and Practice Administrator, the APP position is responsible for providing and coordinating medical, surgical and other specialty care to patients under the auspices of a supervising physician or the supervising physician’s agent in various settings. This position will provide patient assessments through patient exams, patient medical history, interpretation of required diagnostic procedures, and developing/implementing treatment and management plans.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the Medical Director, the Advanced Practice Provider shall provide medical care to include office and inpatient diagnosis, and treatment of patients with primarily vascular surgical and medical ailments.
- Maintain office hours determined by the Company to meet the needs of its patients.
- Communicate with attending physician regarding plan of care and involve physician in clinical decision making outside of the knowledge base or scope of practice of the Advanced Practice Provider.
- Educate patients and family members regarding health and illness prevention, medication and treatment instructions, and recommend community resources as needed.
- Coordinates necessary tests, consultation, and procedures as indicated or requested by the attending physician.
Required Experience, Education & Licensure:
1-2 years of experience preferred. The Advanced Practice Provider shall maintain an unrestricted license to practice as either an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or a Physician Assistant in the State of Massachusetts. The Advanced Practice Provider will also be duly registered to prescribe narcotics with both the DEA and the State of Massachusetts. The Advanced Practice Provider shall obtain and continue to maintain admitting staff privileges at the Hospitals designated by the Practice.
