Physician Assistant Fellowship
The Boston Specialists Physician Assistant Fellowship Program in Gastroenterology and Allergy aims to bridge the gap in PA training by providing specialized education. Fellows will receive comprehensive training in both gastroenterology, allergy, as well as the intersection of these two fields. This program equips PA graduates with the knowledge and confidence to excel in independent clinical practice. The 12-month fellowship includes structured learning in general gastroenterology, general allergies, and eosinophilic and mast cell disorders. Fellows will receive clinical training, with opportunities to participate in independent research projects, hands-on procedure training, mentorship from experienced providers, and the chance to contribute to the training of future healthcare professionals.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
- Perform patient intake and physical, develop treatment plan, and provide patient education while collaborating with physicians to deliver exceptional care.
- Review difficult cases with the physician and less complex cases independently.
- Provide timely responses to patient questions via telephone or email.
- Refill prescriptions and review lab work in a timely manner.
- After completion of the initial training period, fellows will be expected to see an average of 8 patients per day. Throughout the fellowship, fellows will be able to independently see up to 20 patients per day.
Additional Responsibilities and Opportunities
- Participate in ongoing internal research projects with the opportunity for publication and presentation of abstracts and papers at conferences.
- Assist in the training and mentorship of pre-medical gap year students, PA students, and NP students by providing guidance, shadowing opportunities, and educational support.
- Contribute to the creation and review of patient education materials, ensuring content is accurate, clear, and accessible to diverse patient populations.
- Engage in continuing education activities, such as attending seminars, workshops, or conferences to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the field.
- Support the operational aspects of the practice by gaining proficiency in prior authorizations, billing procedures, and handling denials
Minimum Qualifications
- Successful completion of a Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) from an accredited program.
- Successful completion of the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination (PANCE) with licensure to practice in the state of Massachusetts
- Required to complete the credentialing process prior to start date.
Job Type: Full-time
Projected Total Compensation: $80,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
