Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistants needed in Boston, MA.

This is a temporary and part time role.

We need someone preferably with college health and Eclinical works EMR experience.

Work setting: University/college health center

Duration: Temporary,

Shift: 24-35 hours/week through June 2025

One evening preferred 12 pm -8 pm Tuesday and/or Thursday.

Other times 8 am -5 pm Mon , Wed, Fri. We can be flexible with hours.

Summary:

  • The Nurse Practitioner (NP), under the supervision of a physician, serves as a primary medical care provider to university students.
  • The NP diagnoses and treats acute and chronic disease and provides preventive care and health education as well as performs health screenings.
  • The NP participates in quality assessment of the work of the health center, collaborates with the health care team and serves as a resource to the nurses and medical assistants.

Essential functions:

  • Performs history and physical examinations, formulation of care plans, ordering and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic tests and provides education to students, blood draws, injections
  • Prescribes medication or other forms of treatment, inhalation therapy or related therapeutic procedures
  • Document clinical encounters via an EMR clearly, precisely and in a timely manner
  • Follows established protocols and consults with supervising physician when appropriate
  • Provides medical advice and information to students during each visit to ensure understanding of their condition and treatment
  • Consults with specialist or outside providers in regard to student information and treatment
  • Refers students to emergency services or specialty providers when appropriate;
  • Collaborates with other departments on campus and participates in wellness-related programs and activities
  • Follows confidentiality /FERPA guidelines and collaborates with the College administration on cases involving student medical situations when needed

Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to include effective interviewing and counseling skills.
  • Must be able to use tact, discretion, and sensitivity in patient interactions
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must be able to work cooperatively with all University Health and Counseling Center staff and community-based hospitals and health care providers

Requirements:

  • Certificate of Registration as Nurse Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Prior experience in primary care, particularly in student health is highly desirable
  • Previous triage experience for acute medical issues is preferred
  • Covid vaccination (two doses)
