Full Job Description
Phillips Academy seeks a Physician Assistant for overnight weekday and weekend shifts at the Rebecca M. Sykes Wellness Center. This is an academic year plus Summer Session position (part-time, 0.59 FTE, 10 month position) and is benefits-eligible.
The scheduled shifts include those listed below in a 4-week rotation:
Week 1: Sun, Fri, Sat
Week 2: Tues, Wed, Thurs
Week 3: Sun, Fri, Sat
Week 4: Tues, Wed, Thurs
Daily hours are Sunday/Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday 10pm-7:15am
Friday/Saturday 10pm-8:15am.
Occasional work will be required outside of these hours for professional development, staff meetings, student support meetings, and teaching.
Applicants must be a graduate of a Physician Assistant Program; hold current certification PA-C with licensure to practice in Massachusetts; hold current prescriptive privileges in Massachusetts; and hold a DEA license. Experience in pediatrics/adolescent medicine, urgent care, orthopedics, mental health, and reproductive health care preferred. Must feel comfortable using electronic health records for documentation. The successful candidate will maintain a strong commitment to wellness and quality health care for the students of Phillips Academy, with an emphasis on evidence-based approaches to care delivery and patient education using a culturally responsive and trauma informed approach. The ideal candidate is a professional looking for a positive work environment who works collaboratively as part of a team.
Key responsibilities, under the supervision of the Dean of Health and Wellness/Chief Medical Officer, include:
- provide high-quality clinical care to students seen at the Rebecca M. Sykes Wellness Center for urgent care and observation/extended care visits;
- independently perform clinical/diagnostic assessments, provide care, and formulate treatment plans (including prescribing medications, ordering diagnostic tests, and referral to specialists, as needed) for students presenting to the wellness center for acute and chronic health care needs in accordance with best practice guidelines;
- provide reproductive health care and education for students, including access to contraception;
- maintain collaborative relationship with wellness team including nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, counselors, athletic trainers, physicians, and outside consultants;
- promote preventative medical care and health awareness/wellness education through individual and group interactions with students, families, and the community.
