Job Description
University of Maryland Joseph Medical Center (UM-SJMC), a member hospital of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), has an immediate opening for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join their inpatient Spine Surgery team of 3 surgeons and 6 APPs. This position manages patients pre-and post-spine surgery in the hospital.
- Seeking a hardworking, detail oriented NP/PA, who embraces the collaborative approach to patient care
- Will join a group of 3 surgeons and 6 Advanced Practice Providers
- The provider will round daily with MDs and coordinate perioperative treatment plans with the physical/occupational therapists, case manager, social worker, nurses, nurse navigators and other multi-disciplinary team members, in addition to the Spine Attending Physicians.
- Hours Monday – Friday Floor coverage
- The provider will be responsible for inpatient consults with attending oversight. Should have the ability to evaluate, order appropriate tests, and provide diagnosis and treatment options in conjunction with an attending physician.
- First assist credentials/or ability preferred by not required.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
- For NPs, Master of Science degree with completion of an accredited Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program required. For PA’s, Master’s degree Physician Assistant required.
- Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant required. NPs must hold Acute Care NP certification
- Current BLS certification or obtained prior to providing direct patient care is required.
- DEA and CDS eligible
