Part-Time Physician Assistant – Surgical Private Practice

Cover letter required for consideration

Location: Wellesley, MA

Commitment: Part-Time (2 Days/Week)

About Boston Hernia

was founded to take care of patients with inguinal and umbilical hernias. We see almost 2000 new patients each year with suspected hernia conditions and we repair almost 1000 hernias each year. Our team at Boston Hernia practices a collaborative approach emphasizing the importance of spending more time with each patient, examining, educating and discussing treatment options. By creating a specialized clinic, we have moved away from the traditional general surgery model allowing us to focus exclusively on one surgical problem and become international experts in it, providing the very best care to our patients. We currently have a team of two surgeons and two PAs.

The Role

We are looking for a motivated, self-directed Physician Assistant to join us for an initial 6 month engagement. You will work closely with a surgeon as a clinical duo based in our Wellesley clinic with potential in assisting in the OR. While this begins as a 2-day-a-week role, we are looking for a PA who can grow with us. This position has the potential to become a permanent role.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Patient-Centered Care: Conduct clinic visits and manage the patient journey from initial consultation through recovery.
  • Surgical Coordination: Review preoperative clearances and manage postoperative follow-ups to ensure seamless outcomes.
  • Communication: Act as a primary point of contact for patient inquiries via phone and EMR messaging.
  • Surgical Support: While primarily office-based, there is potential for the right candidate to assist in the Operating Room.
  • Lifestyle Balance: No “on-call” responsibilities during the temporary contract period.

Administrative & Growth Opportunities

Because we operate with a start-up mindset, there will be opportunities to help build the practice:

  • Process Improvement: Review practice outcomes and help us refine our clinical workflows.
  • Patient Education: Create engaging blog content and educational materials for our website.
  • Strategic Growth: Build relationships with referring providers and identify new opportunities to expand our reach in the community.

Requirements

  • Experience: The ideal candidate will have 2 years of PA experience.
  • Education: Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies.
  • Licensure: Active MA State License and NCCPA Board Certification.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Schedule: 2 days per week. We appreciate a flexible schedule, but we are happy to discuss specific day-of-the-week needs.
  • Compensation: Competitive and bas
  • ed on clinical experience.

How to Apply

If you are a self-starter who thrives in a small-team environment and is passionate about surgical excellence, we want to hear from you!
