Job Overview:
Shriners Children’s is searching for a PRN Physician Assistant to join our team at Shriners Children’s Shreveport. The ideal candidate will have several years of pediatric and/or orthopedics experience, preferably in an outpatient setting, and be open to covering 1-2 days per week, 8:00am to 4:30pm.
Responsibilities:
The Physician Assistant provides comprehensive, evidenced based health care services to the pediatric population. Services provided by the PA-C may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of identified health needs in the clinical and inpatient setting;
- Ordering and interpretation of diagnostic and/or laboratory tests;
- Formulating, documenting, and monitoring treatment plans;
- Routine pre or post-operative surgical care management;
- Ordering interdisciplinary consults;
- Ordering pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies and/or interventions;
- Assisting with minor clinic procedures
- Assisting in the evaluation and work up of the patient, conferring with physician on treatment and follow up
Qualifications:
- Master of Physician Assistant Studies required
- Current board certification from NCCPA required
- Valid LA PA-C license required
- Valid DEA license required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.
- Teaching and training skills, and demonstrated ability to provide age-appropriate direct patient care
- Experience in managing pediatric or orthopedic patients required
- Teaching and training skills, and demonstrated ability to provide age-appropriate direct patient care is required
- Proficient computer skills with experience with Epic EHR preferred
