Full Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our medical team at The Family Doctors. As a physician extender, you will work closely with physicians to provide medical care and perform a wide range of tasks. This position requires strong communication skills, excellent medical knowledge, and the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
As a Physician Assistant /Nurse Practitioner, you will be responsible for assessing patients, diagnosing medical conditions, and developing and implementing treatment plans. Additionally, you will order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and provide patient education.
The ideal candidate for this position is a compassionate and dedicated individual who is committed to delivering high-quality patient care. You must possess excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities are also essential for success in this role
This position is full time 4.5 days per week M-Fri. No nights or weekends.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients, obtain medical histories, and perform physical examinations
- Diagnose and treat common medical conditions
- Develop and implement appropriate treatment plans
- Perform medical procedures, such as pap smears and joint injections
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as X-rays and laboratory tests
- Prescribe medications and provide patient education
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible patient outcomes
- After hours phone call approximately 3-4 days per month. No hospital call or rounding.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Studies or related field
- Current certification as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
- Valid Louisiana state license to practice as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
- Minimum of 1 years of experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner . Family medicine experience a plus
- Strong medical knowledge and clinical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Compassionate and dedicated to delivering high-quality patient care
