Duties
- Develop comprehensive construction estimates by analyzing project plans, specifications, and bid documents using industry-standard software. Xactimate capabilities are a plus.
- Collaborate with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams through effective negotiation to secure favorable pricing and contract terms.
- Prepare detailed cost analysis reports including material costs, labor estimates, equipment needs, and project timelines to support accurate bidding processes.
- Conduct site visits to gather firsthand information on existing conditions, logistics, and potential challenges that could impact project costs or scheduling.
- Manage cost control throughout the project lifecycle by monitoring expenditures against budgets and implementing corrective measures as needed.
- Review construction contracts and scope of work documents to ensure all aspects are accurately estimated and aligned with project requirements.
- Assist in project management activities by providing reliable estimates that support scheduling, resource allocation, and overall construction management strategies.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction estimating with a strong understanding of construction management principles and practices.
- Proficiency in estimating software such as Jobber;
- Solid knowledge of construction site operations, materials pricing, labor productivity rates, and cost control techniques.
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure competitive pricing from vendors and subcontractors while maintaining quality standards.
- Ability to interpret architectural drawings, technical specifications, and contracts accurately.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks efficiently under tight deadlines.
- Construction site experience is preferred to enhance understanding of on-the-ground realities impacting estimates.
