Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute (KCOI) is a single specialty orthopedic hospital. We are physician owned, with 17 IPU beds and 8 state-of-the-art surgical suites. We have been serving the Kansas City area for over 20 years.

Our Urgent Care is a large part of the daily operations at the Hospital. Urgent Care is open Mondays-Fridays, 8:00am-7:00pm; Saturday and Sunday, 10:00am-4:00pm.

We are seeking a PRN Physician Assistant with a flexible schedule to assist in filling in our scheduling needs. We have a dynamic and unique working environment with a 100% orthopedic case load.

Job Function:

The Physician Assistant, under the supervision of the supervising physician, is responsible for delivering a broad range of health care, with an emphasis in orthopedic care. The physician assistant will perform medical histories, conduct physical exams, order diagnostic tests, administer treatments (injections, reductions, splinting), prescribe medications, counsel, and educate patients. The PA-C, under the direction of the supervising physician, may assist in surgery as needed.

Requirements:

  • 3 years of relevant experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education & experience
  • Current Physician Assistant license in Kansas
  • BLS required
  • Knowledge of Orthopaedic practice and care
  • Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment procedures
  • Knowledge of Orthopaedic equipment
  • Ability to work in a fast paced clinical/hospital area with multiple interruptions
  • Ability to perform basic math skills
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems while using good reasoning and judgment

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand & bend; walk and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds
  • Requires a full range of body motion including lifting patients, pushing, and pulling with and without assistance, manual and finger dexterity and coordination, normal visual and auditory acuity
  • Position will work in a hospital/clinical area with exposure to blood and body fluids and possible exposure to communicable or infectious disease and other conditions common to the hospital/clinical area

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $60.00 – $70.00 per hour
