Lawrence Family Practice Center is seeking a full-time Physician Associate or Nurse Practitioner to provide excellent primary care to our patients in Lawrence, KS. Providers will work both autonomously and in collaboration with other healthcare providers providing cost effective, evidence-based care to the patient. Ideal candidates are excited to provide acute and preventative healthcare services to a wide range of population from pediatric to geriatrics. Experience working with chronic diseases is preferred, especially with diabetes and hypertension. POSITION OPPORTUNITIES:
Develop your own patient panel within a Family Medicine clinic and assume care for some patients who have been with our clinic for many years. Have autonomy with back-up on patient care decisions.
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Physician Associate
Graduate of an accredited PA program
Kansas PA license with no practice restrictions
APRN
Master’s of Science in Nursing degree (CNS or NP)
Kansas RN license and ARNP certification with no practice restrictions
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Performs physical assessments and examinations and evaluates the psychosocial health status of all patients.
- Establishes patient diagnoses and administers individual therapeutic measures based on the health needs of the patient.
- Communicates with and educates patients about their medical condition and follow-up care; also educates patients about preventive measures.
- Makes appropriate use of laboratory and radiology services in clinical decision making in accordance with standard practice.
- Initiates referrals and prescribes medication according to protocols.
- Seeks consultation from a physician for unusual or unresponsive cases
- Maintains thorough, accurate, and timely electronic medical records which justify diagnosis and treatment.
- Maintains other appropriate legal documents and other required forms.
- Works with other health professionals to develop policies and procedures pertaining to overall medical standards of practice.
- Reasonable adherence to appointment schedule with patient encounter volume similar to other LFPC providers.
- Shares in evening, weekend, and holiday provider schedules.
- Participates in accredited continuing medical education to keep license and certification current, also to maintain professional knowledge and skills needed to carry out duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Supervises support staff in clinic, as indicated.
- Confers with physicians as indicated regarding over-all general patient care.
- Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by physician providers.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Master’s of Science in Nursing and Kansas RN license and APRN certification with no practice restrictions
- Or Graduate of an accredited PA program with Kansas PA license with no practice restrictions
- Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration
- Eligibility to participate in all federal health care programs
Preferred:
- Interest is working with preventive medicine and chronic condition management
- Experience in Women’s Health procedures
- At least two years of clinical primary care practice
