Full Job Description
The University of Iowa Health Care department of Family Medicine is seeking a Physician Assistant. This position will perform direct patient care including diagnostic and therapeutic services with physician supervision. The physician assistant will exercise autonomy in medical decision making and services provided. The physician assistant will assist in educating healthcare students, residents, and fellows as they rotate through the respective departments and divisions.
Duties to include:
- Obtain medical history and perform physical examination.
- Assess, assist, diagnose, and treat medical and surgical problems and record findings.
- Provide care responsibilities as directed by a supervising physician.

The department intends to hire either a Family Medicine Physician Assistant (requisition 24005479) or a Family Medicine Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (requisition 24005480) based on the qualifications of the successful candidate. Required Qualifications:
- Education: Must comply with registration and licensure requirements as specified by the Iowa Board of Physician Assistant Examiners which include graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant educational program and/or certification by the NCCPA.
- Current license to practice as a physician assistant in the State of Iowa
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a primary care environment providing care to adults and children is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 1-year clinical experience after completion of Physician Assistant training is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EPIC is highly desirable.
- 2+ years’ experience in a primary care setting is desirable.
