Des Moines Orthopaedic Surgeons has a long standing history of serving patients in the Des Moines metro from general orthopaedic needs to trauma related orthopaedic injuries. To continue this level of care, we are seeking a skilled Orthopaedic Trauma Hospitalist to streamline patient’s care onsite at a Level 1 Trauma center. This individual will act as an extension of our Orthopaedic Physicians by providing onsite assessment, rounding, direct care, operating room support and other duties related to mid-level Trauma professionals. This role requires 3 years of strong hospital and/or orthopaedic experience for consideration. Hours for this position will be Monday through Friday, 7AM-4:30PM. Availability to provide weekend coverage when needed.

Do I want this job? Under general supervision, you will provide independent acute and/or trauma medical care to patients in the Emergency Department, admitted patients and operating rooms at the hospital. You want a position working with a busy and productive provider. You are aware that on call may be necessary and enjoy working with a variety of trained medical and administrative professionals. You enjoy working with a diverse set of patients. You prefer a surgically heavy practice and are focused on hospital duties. Be understanding that our patients are hurting and may not always be super pleasant, however, they are very grateful. You will work in a place that expects outstanding experiences; we do this by working hard to assume the best and being curious with all around us. You will be naturally curious, friendly and helpful.
Can I do this job? You may need to be on your feet for long periods of time. You may also need to assist in transporting, positioning or holding patients when necessary. You are able to life at least 50 pounds for select tasks. You have (or will have) a Physician Assistant Certification or Nurse Practitioner license from an accredited program. You are eligible to practice as a Physician Assistant or Advanced Nurse Practitioner in the state of Iowa. You must maintain license and be in good standing. Prior experience working in Trauma, preferred. For credentialing at a hospital, you must be up to date on vaccinations including Covid19 and meet all requirements necessary for credentialing.
