Description:

Area Substance Abuse Council (ASAC) is seeking a Part-Time Psychiatric Physician Assistant to provide comprehensive mental health and psychiatric medication management to individuals struggling with substance use disorders in a residential treatment setting.

As the Psych Physician Assistant you will:

  • Perform psychiatric care duties including psychiatric evaluations, diagnosing mental health conditions using DSM 5 criteria, developing treatment plans, prescribing medications and offering therapeutic interventions following evidence-based practices in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Monitor effectiveness of psychiatric interventions and adapt treatment plans accordingly.
  • Provide effective documentation, diagnosis, coding, authorization, and billing of services.
  • Collaborate and coordinate care with ASAC team in an effort to develop comprehensive behavioral health plans for patients in residential settings.
  • Understand and utilize evidence-based practices including Medications for Addiction in the treatment of substance use disorders.
  • Monitor and initiate processes which promote cost effective and efficient delivery of care.

Requirements:

Qualified candidates must have a current and unrestricted Physician Assistant license and the ability to prescribe psychiatric medications, including medications for addiction treatment and controlled substances in the state of Iowa. Experience working with and caring for individuals with behavioral health diagnoses is required. Candidates must be able to pass an extensive background check.
