Full Job Description

Job Summary

Advanced Practice Provider is responsible for obtaining complete and comprehensive patient histories, performing physical examinations, writing orders, prescriptions, responding to patient questions and providing information to patients and their families. Required to assist in procedures as needed. Exercises judgment within their areas of competence.

Job Responsibilities

  • Order, perform and interpret laboratory tests, diagnostic and invasive procedures as appropriate.
  • Following physician observation and approval of technique, perform therapeutic or corrective measures.
  • Refer patients to appropriate specialists, services and community resources (i.e. physical therapy, other subspecialists and social services).
  • Provide emergency care in collaboration with the physician.
  • Provide preventative care and counseling on health and awareness related conditions.
  • Prescribe appropriate medications as needed.
  • The supervising physician or physician designee reviews patient encounters as stated in the collaborative agreement.

Education Requirements

  • Minimum: Graduate of an approved/accredited physician assistant or nurse practitioner program
  • Preferred: Masters degree.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum: One (1) year of clinical experience
  • Preferred: Three (3) years of experience in medical office

License/Certification Requirements

  • License valid to practice in the state of Indiana
  • Controlled Substances Registration license in the state of Indiana
  • Basic Life Safety (American Heart Association)

Education

Preferred

  • Masters or better in Nursing
  • Masters or better in Physician Assistant Studies
  • Bachelors or better in Physician Assistant Studies
