ROLE OVERVIEW:
Orthopedic Spine Surgeon, Dr. Paul Kraemer, is looking for a highly motivated Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join his team at Indiana Spine Group. Applicant will become a critical member of an elective, referral-based practice providing comprehensive spinal care including degenerative, minimally invasive, and complex spine surgery.,
Applicant will work closely with Dr. Kraemer in the OR and in clinic. The applicant will provide direct patient care in clinic and as a first assist in the operating room in addition to assisting with rounding, patient phone calls, and other patient care responsibilities.
Prior experience in spine, neurosurgery, orthopedics or other surgical field is preferred but this position is open to any PA (including new grads) who is highly motivated in providing excellent patient care. This is a rapidly growing practice in a collegial, fun, and fast paced environment. Prerequisite Experience:
Graduation from accredited physician assistant program. Board Certified. Current Indiana PA License. Minimum of one year experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner preferred but open to newly graduates.
Prerequisite Skills:
- Basic knowledge of pharmacology.
- Current CPR Certification.
- Knowledge of acute and chronic care protocols, administration of medications, delivering physical care following treatment plan.
- Knowledge of how to assess patient health and measure/record physiologic data.
- Knowledge of health promotion principles, techniques and patient learning measurements.
- Ability to effectively gather and analyze physiological, socioeconomic and emotional patient data.
- Accurately evaluating patient problems in person or via phone and providing appropriate advice, intervention or referral.
- Ability to effectively evaluate or revise care plan based on patient changes.
- Ability to make responsible decisions within scope of a dependent medical practitioner.
- Ability to develop health education programs and materials.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish/maintain a safe work environment.
- Demonstrated ability in handling patient confidentiality.
- Knowledge of operating room policies and procedures and patient safety procedures.
- Knowledge of effective participation on surgical team.
- Knowledge of safety and infection control procedures in appropriately setting up sterile area.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
- Must have a flexible work schedule with the ability to work early/late as needed.
