Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Front Desk Manager and Medical Assistant to join our dynamic team. This dual role combines front desk management with clinical support, ensuring smooth patient flow and delivering outstanding patient service. The ideal candidate will be passionate about healthcare, possess excellent organizational skills, and have a strong understanding of medical procedures and confidentiality protocols. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a thriving practice while gaining valuable experience in both administrative and clinical settings.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and manage patient intake processes efficiently
- Schedule appointments, confirm patient visits, and coordinate follow-up care using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems
- Collect patient data during visits
- Assist clinicians during examinations and assisting in operating some medical equipment under the doctor’s direction
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies to protect patient information
- Support clinical procedures by practicing aseptic techniques and ensuring all medical equipment is properly sterilized and functioning correctly
- Manage medical records accurately, including documentation of ophthalmology-specific tests like eye refraction and ocular measurements
Qualifications that are not required, but would be a bonus
- Prior experience working in a medical office setting with knowledge of medical terminology and physiology
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for managing electronic health records efficiently
- Experience within the OR environment
- Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance, patient confidentiality, and clinical confidentiality policies
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to handle intake procedures professionally and compassionately
- Ability to operate medical devices safely while maintaining aseptic technique standards
- Retail sales experience or retail math skills are beneficial for managing inventory or product sales within the practice
