Springfield Clinic , one of the largest multi-specialty physician owned medical practices in Illinois, is currently seeking an Advanced Practitioner- Trauma Surgery to join one of the most progressive, independent medical groups in Illinois. Job Specifics

  • This APP will work with our trauma team at a level I trauma center
  • Block scheduling: 12 Hour Shifts
  • Work in emergency surgery, trauma department and trauma ICU
  • APP will be trained on multiple procedures
  • Combination of days and nights; typically 3-4 nights/month
  • APRN candidates MUST have Acute Care Certification.

Job Relationships Reports to the Operations Manager

Principal Responsibilities Obtain complete medical history and physical data on patients. Review patient records. Interpret and integrate data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures needed. Perform a complete physical exam and record findings. Establish presumptive diagnosis. Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Synthesize data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention. Administer injections, immunizations and oral medications. Perform wound repair which may include steristrips, derm glue or sutures if appropriately trained. Prepare written prescription orders for drugs and controlled substances. Interview and advise patients regarding health and illness prevention. Recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs. Instruct patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions. Provide patient education. Assist physicians by recording patient progress notes, issue diagnostic orders and transcribe orders. Triage patient telephone calls and provide consultation. Perform independent evaluation and treatment procedures in emergency situations. Provide monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits. Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested. Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations. Maintain patient confidentiality. Manage illnesses per collaborative agreement with physician(s). Plan and implement patient education programs as requested. Emphasize illness prevention and wellness as part of care. Evaluate health status of patients and manage acute or chronic minor illness per collaborative agreement with physicians(s). Participate in research activities if appropriate to her/his physician practice. Provide assessment and care to specific nursing home patients according to Medicare guideline if appropriate to her/his physician practice. Visit patients in hospital and home as supplement to medical care if appropriate to collaborative agreement. Evaluate expenses and revenue monthly and adjust as necessary. Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures. Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy. Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic’s Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards. Perform other job duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse program. For critical care/trauma departments:

Licenses/Certificates Licensed in the State of Illinois as a Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. Current CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines.

Working Environment Functions indoors in an office setting. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases and toxic substances. May be required to lift.
