Position Summary: Silver Cross has an exciting opportunity for a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner (collectively referred to as an Advanced Practice Provider or APP) to join our growing orthopedic service line. The APP, under the responsibility and supervision of the supervising physician, will provide care in a hospital-based setting including but not limited to inpatient consults and rounding, patient education and assisting in pre-operative and post-operative care. This position requires a strong understanding of orthopedic medicine, excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- APP will demonstrate clinical expertise and ability to function as part of a collaborative care team to deliver patient care including performing diagnostic and therapeutic tasks to allow the physician to extend his/her services.
- APP will assist in gathering patient data necessary to diagnose and develop a plan of care with the supervising physician.
- APP will provide direct clinical care including: collect health history; perform physical examination; prescribe/order medications or therapies; order and interpret lab testing, imaging studies and other modalities in line with clinical privileges; provide comprehensive teaching to patients and families and may help develop education materials.
- APP will actively participate in quality improvement programs and staff education initiatives.
- APP will document all care and education provided and/or procedures performed.
- APP will refer to and partner with other clinical disciplines as appropriate, and serve as a consultant for orthopedic care as directed by the supervising physician.
- APP will maintain a professional image and demeanor.
Required Qualifications:
Education and Training:
- Master’s degree from an accredited school/college of nursing OR accredited physician assistant program
- Licensed APN or PA in the State of Illinois
- Controlled Substance and DEA license
- Experience in Orthopedics is preferred
- Electronic Medical Record proficiency
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate optimal patient care in a complex healthcare environment
- Ability to get to the hospital within 60 minutes
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with different surgeons

The expected pay for this position is listed below:
$45.53 – $59.19
The final offered salary will take several factors into consideration, including but not limited to: licensure, certifications, work experience, education, knowledge, demonstrated abilities, internal equity, market data, and more.
