Full Job Description

DESCRIPTIONThe Diamond Headache Clinic is seeking a Full Time Certified Physician Assistant/Physician Associate (PA-C). The candidate will perform at the proficiency level of an outstanding PA-C to provide exceptional medical care and treatment for patients of the Diamond Headache Clinic (DHC). The candidate will function under the supervision of a Partnering Physician(s) at DHC in accordance with the rules, regulations, and bylaws of the Medical Staff Office with the following responsibilities, including but not limited to: independently deliver clinical services to patients within the limits of their privileges; complies with DHC’s standards, policies, and procedures as defined by the employee handbook; contributes to patient satisfaction; participates in quality assurance and improvement; supports and participates in a team approach to the delivery of patient care within the outpatient clinic; fiscally responsible for the level of care prescribed/delivered and the appropriate utilization of resources; demonstrates the successful judgment and ability to serve appropriate unique needs of various patient populations and age groups.

DUTIESDuties include but are not limited to:

  • AM unit rounds at the Diamond Headache Inpatient Unit at Ascension St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago
  • Assess patients’ health, their demands and aim to fulfill them as well as possible
  • Obtain and review both new and established patient histories
  • Perform neurological exams
  • Perform routine follow up visits of established patients
  • Manage patients by phone, telehealth or MyChart (EPIC) or NextGen as appropriate
  • Issue appropriate prescriptions and therapies
  • Administer IV headache treatments
  • Monitor patients’ progress and keep records of treatments, surgeries or other medical events
  • Document patient diagnosis, history, treatment, progress, etc in EMR
  • Cultivate a climate of trust and compassion for the patients
  • Comply strictly with medical care regulations and safety standards
  • Collaborate effectively with team members

DAYS/HOURSWork Schedule: 4 x 10 (4 10hr Days) from 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM + After-Hours Call once a week + Pre-scheduled Weekend Rounding/Call 1-2 times a month (you are given the following Monday off after weekend rounding)

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduate of an approved or accredited PA program. Must provide proof of completion.
  • Board Certification (NCCPA)
  • Current State of IL PA License
  • Current State of IL Controlled Substance (II III IV V) License
  • Current DEA (II III IV V) Registration/License
  • EPIC (EMR) and NextGen knowledge preferred
  • Thorough and detailed patient documentation/noting in EMR
  • Possesses functional capacity, motor and manual skills, speech, language, hearing and perceptual skills as needed to complete job obligations.
