Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Physician Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise across various specialties, including primary care, urgent care, geriatrics, pediatrics, and specialized areas such as infectious disease care, behavioral health, and post-acute care. This role involves providing comprehensive patient assessments, diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions, performing procedures such as suturing, IV infusion, catheterization, and utilizing advanced EMR/EHR systems like Epic and eClinicalWorks. The Family Nurse Practitioner will deliver high-quality patient-centered care in diverse settings including outpatient clinics, inpatient units, telehealth platforms, and assisted living facilities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and patient assessments across a broad age range including pediatrics, geriatrics, neonatal, and adult populations.
- Manage acute and chronic illnesses utilizing evidence-based practices in internal medicine, emergency medicine, ICU, trauma centers, and specialty areas such as gastroenterology and infectious disease.
- Perform clinical procedures including suturing, IV insertion and infusion, catheterization, tube feeding management, dermal fillers administration, spinal taps, and airway management.
- Utilize EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks to document patient encounters accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Coordinate diagnostic evaluations with laboratory experience and medical imaging; interpret results for effective treatment planning.
- Provide health coaching and education on topics like family planning, nutrition, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s), memory care, hospice & palliative medicine.
- Participate in case management activities including discharge planning, utilization review/management, and working with multidisciplinary teams on post-acute care plans.
- Engage in telehealth consultations leveraging telehealth experience to extend access to quality healthcare services.
- Administer medications and injections with proficiency in phlebotomy; manage medication administration protocols following CPT coding standards.
- Maintain infection control standards using aseptic technique; ensure sterile processing of medical equipment.
- Support patients with developmental disabilities or special needs such as those requiring ventilator support or neonatal ventilators.
Qualifications
- Valid Family Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner license with current certification from an accredited program.
- Proven experience in diverse clinical settings including hospital medicine (Level I & II trauma centers), emergency rooms (ER), ICU/PICU units, nursing homes, assisted living facilities or outpatient clinics.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth; experience with medical documentation including ICD-9/10 coding is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy; skilled in diagnostic evaluation and patient assessment across multiple specialties including behavioral health and occupational health.
- Ability to perform advanced procedures such as suturing, spinal taps, dermal fillers; experience with pain management techniques including acute pain management is desirable.
- Familiarity with Workers’ Compensation law; experience working with people with disabilities or developmental challenges is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and providing patient education effectively.
