Job Summary:

We are currently seeking a dynamic and compassionate Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will share our commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of those struggling with substance use and mental health disorders.

Location: Nampa, ID

Type: Contract

Responsibilities:

  • Proficiency in conducting thorough assessments to evaluate mental health status, substance use history, and co-occurring disorders. Can be conducted remotely.
  • Prescribe and manage medications for mental health disorders, substance use disorders, and co-occurring medical conditions, ensuring adherence to evidence-based guidelines and individual safety standards.
  • Experience in collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, addiction counselors, and other healthcare professionals, to develop comprehensive treatment plans and coordinate care.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests as indicated to assist in the diagnosis and management of medical and psychiatric conditions.
  • Expertise in addiction medicine principles, including withdrawal management, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), harm reduction strategies, and relapse prevention techniques.
  • Sensitivity to the cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic factors that may influence individuals’ experiences with substance use and mental health disorders, and the ability to provide culturally competent care.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles to create a safe and supportive environment for individuals who have experienced trauma, which is often correlated with substance use and mental health disorders.
  • Skills in providing education to individuals about mental health and substance use disorders, treatment options, medication management, and strategies for self-care and relapse prevention.
  • Ability to assess and manage acute psychiatric crises, including suicidal ideation, psychosis, and substance intoxication or withdrawal emergencies.
  • Proficiency in maintaining accurate and detailed clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development through participation in relevant conferences, workshops, and continuing education courses to stay current with advances in the field.
  • Proficient and well-versed in ethical standards and matters concerning confidentiality.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MSN/DNP) from an accredited Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant program.
  • Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP)/Physician Assistant (PA) in Idaho.
  • Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) with experience in psychiatric care, or by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Prescriptive authority and DEA registration for controlled substances prescribing.
  • Clinical experience in a substance use and mental health setting, with expertise in addiction medicine and psychiatric care
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with a compassionate and empathetic approach to individual care.

Pre – Hire Requirements:

  • Must pass enhanced criminal background check.
  • Must pass drug screening.
