Job SummaryAloha! We are seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, to support our clinic and surgical team in a private surgery center. The ideal candidate will assist with patient care, prepare operating rooms, and surgeon during procedures. This role requires a strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology, along with experience in surgical settings. The Surgical Assistant will play a vital role in delivering safe, efficient, and compassionate care to patients. Position pay start at $70/hr, part time or per diem position available.

Duties

  • Assist surgeons during operative procedures by providing necessary instruments and supplies while maintaining aseptic technique.
  • Support patient positioning, draping, and preparation for surgery to ensure optimal access and safety.
  • Collect and document data such as vital signs, patient history, and intraoperative observations
  • Monitor patient status throughout the perioperative period, including vital signs and physiological responses.
  • Perform suturing and wound closure under supervision or independently as trained.
  • Maintain sterile fields and ensure infection control standards are strictly followed.
  • Assist with specimen collection, labeling, and documentation for pathology analysis.
  • Support preoperative and postoperative patient care activities including patient education and comfort measures.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including surgeon, patient coordinator, front office staff, pharmacists, etc…
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies regarding infection control, safety protocols, and documentation standards
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietory techniques

Experience

  • Prior experience in OR settings or hospital environments is highly preferred.
  • Physician’s Assistant or Nurse Practitioner with surgical assistant experience highly preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and critical care practices.
  • Hands-on experience with suturing techniques and aseptic procedures.
  • Background in medical-surgical nursing or ICU/acute care units is desirable.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as ACLS or PALS are a plus.
  • Experience working in plastic surgery centers is beneficial but not mandatory.
