SUMMARY: The Director of Curriculum is a full-time faculty member who serves the Physician Assistant Department. This role is responsible for the planning, development, assessment, and management of all activities related to evaluating the curriculum at the program and departmental level. This role will support program leadership and faculty in instructional alignment with program learning outcomes and will facilitate the innovation of curricular delivery. The incumbent will provide ongoing assessment and evaluation of technology platforms that integrate with and supplement the curriculum including acquisition of new technologies to support student success. The Director of Curriculum will enable the programs to develop state of the art simulation and OSCE capabilities that will enhance the clinical and technical skills required for PA professional practice. Additionally, this role supports the programs in the maintenance of accreditation with the ARC-PA by contributing analysis of data gathered through the process of continuous self-study. The incumbent will have extensive depth and breadth of PA education and curricular design, implementation, and educational technologies. This position will maximize the achievement of the program learning outcomes through continuous assessment of both the didactic and clinical curriculum and technology platforms that support student success. This position offers 7.5 weeks of vacation time and a $10,000 sign-on bonus. KEY JOB ELEMENTS:

  • Ensure preparation, development, and implementation of innovative medical education pedagogies and methodologies.
  • Work with the university assessment team to continuously monitor and map course objectives and course learning outcomes to the program learning outcomes/graduate competencies.
  • Assist in the comprehensive evaluation process for the PA program ensuring there are valid and reliable measures to assess student achievement of program learning outcomes/competencies, course reviews, faculty teaching, and programmatic effectiveness.
  • Develop an ongoing assessment process for technology platforms used to support student success including best practices for deployment in the curriculum and student remediation.
  • Develop and innovate simulation and OSCE capabilities within the program to enhance the clinical and technical skills of the students across the curriculum.
  • Provide professional development to faculty related to curriculum design, innovation, and delivery ensuring the progression of student learning outcomes.
  • Review, revise, and assist in the development of programmatic evaluation instruments including exams, reports, and surveys aimed at ongoing curricular refinement.
  • Monitor and report regional, national, and international trends in physician assistant education.
  • Participate in the development, review, and revision of the mission and vision statement, goals and competencies of the program.
  • Support program director(s) with accreditation compliance, evaluation, and problem-solving activities related to the didactic and clinical curriculum.
  • Engages in service, community and campus relations, and scholarly activities.
  • Instruct in areas of expertise as assigned by the program director.
  • Campus travel can be for extended time periods to meet program needs.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Terminal Degree as a Physician Assistant; Current NCCPA Certification; eligible for Licensure as a PA in applicable state.
  • 2 years of academic experience with a PA program required.
  • Knowledge and experience with Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant current standards preferred.
  • Expertise in pedagogy and curricular evaluation.
  • Expertise in educational technology platform integration into the curriculum.
  • Experience with clinical simulation and OSCEs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with student, faculty, and staff populations.
  • Superior organization, prioritization, and self-motivation skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite, ExamSoft, Learning Management Systems, and PA education platforms (Lecturio, Rosh Review, etc.)
