    The College of Allied Health Sciences at Augusta University has a full-time opening for a Physician Assistant (PA) educator and principal faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor in the Physician Assistant Department/Master of Physician Assistant Program. This role will include mentoring students as an advisor as well as a small group leader, year-round. Teaching effort will include directing/coordinating/grading several courses within the PA curriculum over the course of a year, as well as direct lecture in the classroom (both in courses coordinated by this role as well as any other content areas where the selected faculty member has experience/knowledge). All principal faculty work together to support the learning needs of PA students throughout the didactic and clinical phases. This role would be an integral part of that team facilitating the development, implementation, and evaluation of course content as well as student mentoring and support. This is a non-tenure track position.

    Responsibilities

    • Teaching, conducting student small group, precepting students, advising students, mentoring students, supervising research practicum for students.
    • Participate in service to the department, college, institution, and/or community.
    • Submit publications for acceptance in peer-reviewed journals. Present at professional seminars and conferences. Search and apply for extramural and intramural grants relevant to our program.
    • Participate in clinical practice concurrent with student instruction.

    Required Qualifications

    Must have a Masters degree in Physician Assistant. Three years minimum as a practicing PA-C.

    Abilities Ability to maintain confidentiality Detail-oriented Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases

    Assistant Professor- early-level career as a faculty member 0-4 years experience in related field.

    Associate Professor- mid-level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.

    Professor- senior-level career faculty member with 10 or more years of experience in related field to include five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience. Per Board of Regents (BOR) policy, Professors must have a terminal degree.

    Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

    • Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)’s requirements for institutional accreditation;
    • Evidence of ability as a teacher;
    • Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
    • Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
    • Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

    Shift/Salary/Benefits

    This position is fiscal year based and works year-round.

    The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time.

    Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

    Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

    Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
