Palm Health Resources is hiring an experienced Surgical Physician Assistant for a Breast Surgery position near Atlanta, GA!
Work for a prestigious Cancer Program specializing in Breast Surgery. Excellent Quality of life schedule! Shifts: Monday – Friday, No Weekends Hours: 8am – 5:00pm, No Nights and No on Call
The Advanced Practice Provider will perform under the supervision of a Breast Surgical Oncologist to provide high-quality, patient-centered care to patients with or at risk for breast cancer. This role encompasses clinical evaluation, perioperative management, patient education, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to optimize outcomes.
The Advanced Practice Provider is a provider working under the supervision of a physician. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assists the attending physician in providing a variety of patient care activities including daily inpatient rounds, outpatient follow-up visits, consults, writing orders, and procedural support.
- Collaborate with breast surgeon to develop and implement individualized treatment plans, as well as assist with procedures which may include first assisting. Recognizes and evaluates situations which call for immediate attention of the supervising surgeon or attending physician
- Orders therapy treatments, diagnostic laboratory and radiological tests/procedures, and therapeutic diets as necessary
- Assess patient perioperatively, customize perioperative and discharge plans.
- Sees patients in the office for cancer surveillance.
- Obtains and records detailed and accurate medical histories
- Acts as a liaison between nursing staff or other services and physician
- Facilitates referral of patients to health facilities, agencies and community resources
- Completes written documentation in line with policy
- Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships with patients, families, and other healthcare personnel, while assuring confidentiality of patient information
- Participates in clinical trial enrollment and community service events
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to maintain certification/licensure, and/or keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Nurse Practitioner (NP)
- Georgia RN license and Georgia Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license
- Minimum 3 years of APP experience in Oncology Surgery experience
- Preferred 2 years experience in breast surgery with appropriate procedural competencies: punch biopsies and ultrasound utilization
- DEA within 2 months of hire
- ACLS
- BLS
- ONS certification, preferred
- AOCNP, preferred
