Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Job Description
Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with experience in mental health care to join our team. This position involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with a variety of psychiatric conditions both virtually and in person. You will collaborate closely with our interdisciplinary team to develop personalized care plans and deliver effective mental health services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessment & Diagnosis
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and patient histories to diagnose psychiatric conditions.
- Evaluate mental health symptoms in adults and adolescents, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and more.
- Treatment Planning & Management
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans.
- Prescribe and manage medications according to state and federal regulations, following best practices for psychiatric care.
- Conduct therapeutic interventions, such as counseling and psychoeducation, in individual or group settings.
- Collaboration & Patient Education
- Work with an interdisciplinary team to optimize patient care and outcomes.
- Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plans, medication management, and coping strategies.
- Provide support for crisis intervention when necessary.
- Telehealth Services
- Conduct telehealth appointments to maintain consistent care and accommodate patients’ needs remotely.
- Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain thorough, accurate records of patient encounters, including assessments, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards for psychiatric care.
Qualifications:
- Licensure & Certification: Active and unrestricted PMHNP or PA license in Florida. National certification in psychiatric mental health (for NPs) or in PA scope.
- Education: Master’s or doctoral degree in nursing or equivalent in physician assistant studies.
- Experience: Minimum of [2-3] years in psychiatric care or mental health settings. New grads considered
- Skills: Strong diagnostic, clinical, and communication skills; ability to work independently and in a team setting; proficient with telehealth platforms and electronic health records (EHR).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $105,000.00 – $115,000.00 per year
