Full Job Description

Meet Dr. Jeffrey D. Stone, MD

Position Summary

Under the supervision of Dr. Stone, Florida Orthopaedic Institute is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to support a high-volume upper extremity–focused orthopaedic practice, with a strong emphasis on hand and wrist surgery. This role is designed for a clinically confident PA or NP who is comfortable progressing toward independent clinic management while actively participating in surgical care.

The APP will play a critical role in maintaining clinic flow, managing patient volume, and providing continuity of care across multiple clinic locations. The position includes a structured onboarding and training period, with the expectation that the APP will transition into a high level of autonomy in the clinic setting once credentialed and fully ramped.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced orthopaedic APP seeking a long-term role within a collaborative, physician-led practice that values clinical ownership, patient relationships, and professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current Florida licensure as a PA or APRN
  • NCCPA certification (PA) or appropriate national certification (NP)
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of orthopaedic experience strongly preferred
  • General orthopaedic experience required; upper extremity experience preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated ability to manage patients independently in a high-volume clinic setting
  • Experience with injections and in-office orthopaedic procedures
  • Strong clinical judgment, efficiency, and patient communication skills
  • BLS required (ACLS preferred)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive patient care in clinic and surgical settings, including pre-operative and post-operative management
  • Conduct detailed patient histories, physical exams, and orthopaedic evaluations focused on upper extremity conditions
  • Independently manage clinic schedules following training, including new patient visits, follow-ups, and post-operative care
  • Review and interpret diagnostic imaging, including X-rays, MRI, CT scans, and nerve studies
  • Perform in-office procedures and injections (shoulder, elbow, wrist, fingers, and other joints as appropriate)
  • Serve as first assist in the operating room, including surgical exposure, assistance, and closure
  • Participate in post-operative rounds and care coordination as needed
  • Field patient calls and address clinical concerns in collaboration with the physician and administrative team
  • Apply and remove splints, braces, and other orthopaedic devices
  • Accurately document all encounters, procedures, and treatment plans in the EMR
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, rehabilitation protocols, and post-operative care
  • Collaborate closely with clinical staff, residents, fellows, and administrative teams to ensure efficient clinic operations
  • Adhere to FOI standards related to patient safety, professionalism, and quality of care
  • Participate in ongoing education, training, and professional development activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support practice needs

What We Offer

  • Full-time employment with long-term growth potential
  • Competitive compensation with opportunities for productivity-based incentives
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Stable schedule with no call and no weekends
  • Supportive, collaborative work environment within a high-performing orthopaedic practice
